His blue eyes formed a worried expression, closed briefly in exhaustion, then settled back in its usual nonchalant state. He held the helmet in one arm while the other ran a hand through his close-cropped hair. The large soldier tried to keep his hands still; Senovara would frown greatly on him showing his anxiety in front of the boy, but all he wanted to do was pace the cobblestoned street to wear off the tension. "Lord Nikodemus?" called out the knight, knocking lightly on the carriage's window.  A pale,
almost delicate face opened the wooden shutters of the carriage and peered out.

"Hail, Senovara," he said softly, his voice rough and strained with those few words.  He held one pale hand to this throat in pain and laid aside the scroll he was reading to direct his full attention on the knight.

Senovara was alarmed at the ever-darkening circles under his eyes.  For one so young, he had the composure of a wizened old man, and seemed much too serious.  Fair hair flecked with occasional strands of silver peeked out

Prologue

The young mage clasped the old book to his chest with one hand, while the other held aloft a small iron lantern. He crept through one of the palace's corridors, making certain, as he went along, that there was no one else about, even as the lateness of the hour made such a happenstance unlikely. Finally, he found what he sought: the small hallway that led to one of the private atriums.

The atrium was beautiful in the moon's light, as the goddess Orona's pale, sky-bound orb reflected in the pool of water. He had always thought the garden was at its most serene in the evenings; he felt so at peace when he sat on the marb

Hi! This is a beautiful, beautiful piece of art! My daughter would love to print it for use on her Athena poster for presentation to her 5th grade class. They're studying Greek Mythology now. May she have have your permission to do so for that limited one-time purpose? She wants it to be the focal point of her poster. Thank you so much! :-)

very nice! im definetly adding this into my favorites! i love how you have the owl AND the snake! i never see people include the snake in with athena so its a nice change of pace. personally i prefer her to be represented by snakes instead of an owl. its got great colors too! i love how she doesn's have a "hard" look, but still looks tough and feminine. By the way, just wondering, are the spiders supposed to be from the Arachne myth or are they just spiders?
